LUDWIGSHAFEN, Germany — German Huseyin Cinkara stayed unbeaten with a third-round technical knockout of Duluth boxer Al “Haitian Temptation” Sands for the WBA international cruiserweight title Saturday at Friedrich-Ebert-Halle.
Cinkara, 37, improved to 19-0 with 16 knockouts, while Sands, 35, dropped to 22-5-1. Of Sands’ five losses, three have occurred in his three European fights, all by knockout.
Sands was coming off a knockout victory over Marcus Oliveira to seize the ABF cruiserweight title in the main event of a professional boxing card Feb. 18 at Grand Casino Hinckley.
Prior to that, Sands hadn’t fought since earning a unanimous decision over Minneapolis boxer Phil “The Drill” Williams in Hinckley Jan. 17, 2020, avenging a loss to Williams from five years earlier.
