I.M. Systems Group, Inc., IMSG, (www.imsg.com), is a science-based company providing professional scientific and technical support to the Federal government. IMSG is seeking to hire a highly qualified Business Development/Capture Manager. The position will be responsible for marketing an array of services to a portfolio of new and existing federal agencies to achieve revenue growth and client relationship management. This position is located in Rockville, MD with possible travel. IMSG is specifically looking for a self-starter individual with an understanding of productivity and results are the expectation. Consistent with this, remote work is expected with expectations of productivity and outcome justified.
RESPONSIBILITIES (but are not limited to):
- Generate new business for the company, with specific emphasis on the Federal market in the areas of scientific and technical support. This includes identifying new business opportunities, cultivating clients, and developing marketing strategies.
- Maintain contact and build strong relationships with existing clients to generate new business opportunities and sustain existing ones.
- Perform successful capture/client management duties to include: executing effective strategies for potential leads in relevant markets, locating and developing relationships with potential prime, sub, joint venture, and mentor protégé partners.
- Introduce company services using a diverse set of skills including sales presentations, trade shows, marketing campaigns, cold calling, digital marketing, etc.
- Assist with responding to RFI’s, RFP’s, Sources Sought, solicitations, and other types of opportunity requests from the government.
- Identify and participate in industry day, pre-bid events, procurement fairs, and other networking events.
- Prepare and/or maintain marketing materials and presentation materials to align with Company marketing strategies.
- Upgrade documents, flyers, brochures, and company capabilities statements.
- Manage the company’s BD pipeline to include extensive vetting of current opportunities.
- Perform in-depth competitive and other business analyses and present to Company Executive Team as part of the decision process critical bid/no-bid decision-making.
- Develop and assist in managing strategic partnerships.
- Update job knowledge by participating in educational and volunteering opportunities, reading professional publications, and participating in professional organizations.
- Serve as bids capture manager, leading or working with the proposal team to plan, develop, and deliver bidding packages.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Bachelor’s degree in business or related field (preferred).
- 6-10 years of proven success in business development/sales experience with specific experience in the US Federal government contract arena both in the scientific and technical sectors to include procurement, compliance, capture, funding, etc.
- Knowledge in environmental intelligence capability needs, including but not limited to weather, water, climate, environmental satellites, and related science, software, system engineering, application, as well as other IT and programmatic areas.
- Familiar and conversant on major Cabinet Departments, Bureaus and Agencies in US, e.g., Department of Commerce/NOAA, NASA, USGS, Department of Transportation/FAA, USDA, DOE, DOD, etc.
- Demonstrated ability to achieve sales targets and goals on time and on budget.
- Solid understanding of the challenges faced by federal government contractors and experience in marketing and selling services in the federal marketplace.
- Knowledge and experience with various tools and resources used for market intelligence gatherings required, such as FBO, Bloomberg, and GovWin.
- Skillful in using reporting and analytical tools such as MS production suite, GovWin, SmartSheet, or similar to clearly communicate ideas, processes, and outcomes.
- An outgoing and friendly personality with strong interpersonal skills and the ability to quickly establish rapport with people.
- Excellent communications, public speaking, and presentation skills with a solid working knowledge of budgeting, sales, business development, and strategic planning.
- Able and willing to travel.
- Success in a similar capacity in previous job positions, as well as a proven track record in the relevant business sectors, is a plus.
