The team may be struggling hard, but Carmelo Anthony‘s son, Kiyan, is having one good run at the Elite Youth Basketball League (EYBL). The last weekend was even more promising for the budding basketball star. And extending her love and support to the 17-year-old is his biggest supporter, his mother La La Anthony.
La La shared a series of Instagram stories highlighting Kiyan’s performance at the EYBL. One story included a post by ‘SportsCenter NEXT’ praising the Team Melo star for the scoring moves in his arsenal. “It’s been a CRAAZZY weekend! I’m so proud of Kiyan!!!” read the caption to her IG story.
Furthermore, La La also shared a post by ‘Bleacher Report Hoops’ featuring Kiyan’s 5 big games in EYBL. “Love you… you make me so proud @kiyananththony,” she wrote in the caption to the story. As per the post by BR Hoops, the Team Melo star has had two epic games this weekend itself.

On May 18, He scored 28 points, which included his 5-on-10 3-point shooting against Pro Skills Elite. And 25 points against PSA Cardinals, which included 7-on-13 2-point shooting and 4-on-7 3-point shooting. Now, some fans on social media are even calling him the second version of Carmelo Anthony. However, despite this performance by Kiyan, Team Melo failed to register a win in both these games.
It is worth mentioning that so far in EYBL, Kiyan has had an impressive run. In fact, he ranks 7th among the top 10 players in terms of points per game in the league. So far in his 9 games, he has averaged 20.6 points and 5.1 rebounds per game. Additionally, the Team Melo guard has managed himself a field goal percentage of 45.0, whereas his three-point field goal percentage currently stands at 35.2, which, considering his playing position, are decent figures. “a prospect who continues to elevate his game,” analyst Dushawn London remarked.
Now, the only thing that Kiyan requires for his EYBL run to be successful for him is some more wins with his team.

The former NBA star’s team, in the EYBL, plays from Merritt Conference, which has 19 other teams apart from Team Melo. The EYBL is presently in its third session, and so far, Kiyan’s team stands at the 17th spot among the 20 teams in standings with a winning percentage of just 33.3 with 3-6 Win/Loss record.

However, all is not lost for Team Melo, as they still have one match left in the third session, which is scheduled against the SFG for May 19. The team, interestingly, boosts just 3 wins as well. Now, time only will tell if Team Melo can gain an upper hand over SFG before advancing to the next session of the league.
