The City of Cape Town has allocated R53 million to install taps and toilets in 480 informal settlements across the metro.
The allocation is part of the municipality’s budget that was passed in May for the 2024/2025 financial year.
The City’s mayoral committee member for water and sanitation, Zahid Badroodien, said the City currently spends more than R300 million in annual servicing costs for toilets in informal settlements.
