Nakuru County Commissioner Gilbert Kitiyo has called on civil servants to plan for exit in office to enable a smooth transition when they retire or pass on.
While challenging the workers to take advantage of their annual leaves to prepare their families for departure and retire, also urged them to prepare spiritually.
Kitiyo regretted that a number of officers refused to proceed on leave even when coerced to, an indication that they had nothing to go back home to except their government houses, yet they had families that looked up to them.
The Commissioner made the remarks during a requiem service for Administrative Officer Johanna Mwangi, who worked in the County Commissioner’s Office. Mwangi passed on after a short illness.
Nakuru East Deputy County Commissioner Simiyu Were mourned Mwangi as a dedicated servant who interacted well with all and cared for all.
Mwangi, who will be laid to rest in his Muranga home, is survived by a wife and three children, which the commissioner acknowledged was a young family that needed support to finish school.
