IMPUNIDAD EN TORNO A VIOLENCIA POLICIAL DURANTE EL PARO NACIONAL

“Casi dos años después del Paro Nacional de 2021, los altos mandos de la Fuerza Pública, investigados por las graves violaciones de derechos humanos cometidas en la represión de las protestas, siguen en plena impunidad. De los 3169 hechos delictivos reportados, la Fiscalía General de la Nación solo atribuyó 65 casos a la Fuerza Pública de los cuales 11 fueron archivados y, a la fecha, no hay ninguna sentencia condenatoria. Mientras tanto, 230 jóvenes se encuentran judicializados por liderar la protesta”.

“Clashes between Colombia’s illegal armed groups worsened the country’s humanitarian situation last year, with civilians subject to forced displacements and confinements, the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) said on Wednesday. Colombia’s long-running internal conflict has killed at least 450,000 people and displaced millions.”

“Colombian President Gustavo Petro has suspended a ceasefire with the country’s main drug trafficking cartel, the Gulf Clan. He accused it of “sowing anxiety and terror” and ordered the security forces to reactivate their military operations against the criminal gang.The ceasefire had been agreed in December as part of the president’s plan for “total peace” in Colombia. Its suspension is a major blow to Mr Petro’s attempt to end armed conflict.”

A shooting on Sunday in the Villanueva neighborhood of the city of Barranquilla claimed the lives of 5 people, while 14 others were injured. About six armed people riding motorcycles arrived at a party and fired indiscriminately at the attendees, local authorities reported.”

En total, la organización denunció 5.051 casos de violación de derechos humanos en Colombia”.

“Rescue operations at a coal mine in central Colombia that collapsed earlier this week ended Thursday and officials said the accident had left 21 workers dead. The mine near the town of Sutatausa collapsed late Tuesday following an explosion that blocked several of its entrances.
