Commuters are experiencing travel disruption this morning as a fault in Sydenham is causing delays on Thameslink and Southern lines.
Thameslink posted a statement around 6am saying that “a fault with the signalling system has been identified in the Sydenham area” and was causing disruption.
As a result, trains running from London Bridge towards Norwood Junction, East Croydon and West Croydon will be delayed.
All lines between stations in Balham and East Croydon are also blocked on the Southern service.
“Network Rail colleagues have just arrived on site. When it is safe to do so, they’ll carry out an inspection of the affected points (moveable sections of track),” Southern Rail said in an update.
“Our engineers have found a blown fuse and replaced it, but that hasn’t fixed the fault. We’re now inspecting a 300 metre stretch of cable for damage and hope to be able to update with good news soon,” Network Rail said.
