BENTON, Ky. — Tuesday, May 28, marked the fourth court appearance for Aaron Dripps in connection to the January 25 death of Stephen Odom.
The hearing yielded no new information, but Dripps’s attorney addressed a motion from the prosecution and agreed to provide information requested by the prosecution during the discovery process.
Dripps was originally charged with murder and convicted felon in possession of a handgun. Following a February pre-trial hearing, the case was sent to a grand jury, which added the charges of buy/possess drug paraphernalia, terroristic threatening third degree, possession of marijuana, and trafficking in controlled substances, first degree, first offense, greater than four grams of cocaine.
According to a Marshall County Sheriff’s Office press release, deputies were dispatched to a shooting on West Unity Church Road at approximately 5:34 p.m. The same release claims that Odom was declared dead at the scene.
During a February 7 hearing, Detective Aaron Lane testified that, upon arrival at the scene, officers detained Dripps and a woman named Jennifer Ramey. Ramey claimed to be Odom’s girlfriend at the time of his death, but was found inside Dripps’s home.
Prior to May 28, Dripps’s most recent court appearance was March 26. During that hearing, the additional charges were brought, and the discovery process began.
The next hearing was set for August 13 at 8:30 a.m.
