Rumors swirling about what could happen with Kevin Durant are dominating NBA headlines in the basketball world. Right now, nothing seems imminent despite Durant offering an ultimatum to the Brooklyn Nets.
The Nets are going to take their time and wait until they receive an offer to their liking. A few different teams have been mentioned as suitors for Durant but the Boston Celtics are the team that seems to be the favorites in the clubhouse right now.
Boston has recently emerged as a team that Durant would prefer to land with, as the Phoenix Suns and Miami Heat were also on that list. Those reports of him wanting to play in Beantown have only gotten louder after he was spotted working out with Celtics’ All-Star Jayson Tatum.
That will certainly cause a stir to see Durant working out with a potential new teammate. Players will regularly work out with friends around the league even if they are on other teams, but those players aren’t usually involved in trade rumors to the extent that Durant is.
Should Durant and Tatum become teammates, they would instantly become one of the best duos in the NBA. Opponents would have nightmares trying to figure out how to slow those two down as they are two of the most gifted scorers in the league.
The Celtics are considered the favorites to land Durant because of their willingness to include their other young All-Star, Jaylen Brown, in discussions. Boston reportedly offered Brown, Derrick White and picks to the Nets after Brooklyn proposed Durant in exchange for both Brown and Tatum.
The Nets asked for Marcus Smart to be included as well, but Boston balked at that asking price. While there is still plenty of work to do when it comes to finalizing a deal, a baseline has seemingly now been set with Brown being made available.
