The energy grid is “due to fall off a cliff” but the government is still “demonising” gas and coal, according to The Australian’s Chief Political Correspondent Geoff Chambers.
“There’s a very clear reality here that we don’t talk about enough, we talk about net zero by 2050, we talk about 2030 targets,” he told Sky News host Sharri Markson.
“But without coal and gas in the system there simply will not be enough dispatchable renewables available to keep manufacturing going in this country and to keep Australians in jobs.”
