Chisinau (dpa) – As a sign of their opposition to the Russian war of aggression against Ukraine, the states of the European Political Community (EPC) have gathered for a summit meeting in Moldova’s capital Chisinau. The leaders of the 47 participating partners came together on Thursday for the second meeting in this new format. They included German Chancellor Olaf Scholz and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy. The talks will be focusing on Russia’s war of aggression against Ukraine, its consequences and the economic development.
The EPC had been established last year on the initiative of the French President Emmanuel Macron. Apart from Russia and its ally Belarus, all European states are represented in the organisation.
At the same time, an informal meeting of Nato foreign ministers took place in Oslo; its main topic was likewise the Russian war of aggression. Its chief purpose was to prepare for the Nato summit in Vilnius in July.
