Rocky Parsons, Area Director of Talent & Culture for 21c Museum Hotels and Board Member of Arkansas Single Parent Scholarship Fund, spends his free time enjoying family, making music and giving back.
“My wife and I try to focus our time and attention on work that betters the lives of children and organizations whose missions are closely related to the bare necessities of life,” Rocky shared. “I’m very passionate about the idea of helping people meet their daily needs.” As Rocky and his wife, Lisa, began to learn more about the organization, it became apparent that volunteering with ASPSF “ticked all the boxes” for the couple. “ASPSF not only helps families with basic needs; they help single-parents enhance their potential for the rest of their lives!”
In honor of National Volunteer Month, Rocky shared his personal philosophy on volunteerism. “I arrived at the belief fairly early in life that people have a wide variety of talents, skills, and assets that can be used to serve others.”
“Some people are good at sharing their experiences with others in helpful ways – mentoring them. Some people like to share their financial resources with others. Everyone’s got something to give.”
His passion for the mission and the single-parent families ASPSF serves eventually landed Rocky a seat on the Board of Directors. He can’t wait to see what’s in store for the organization in the coming months. “I’m excited to see our work reach more people and change more lives.”
“No matter what way you like to give back, there’s a place to use your strengths at ASPSF. If you’re looking for somewhere to get involved, there’s no better place!”
