Former Mamelodi Sundowns striker Cassius Mailula is reportedly heading out of the Major League Soccer(MLS).
The 23-year-old left Mamelodi Sundowns for MLS outfit Toronto FC last year in July but has struggled to establish himself in the club. Mailula has only played five matches since leaving Masanadawana and is reportedly loaned out for the rest of the season
The former Sundowns star Mailula has been allowed by his club to go on loan to get more game time. According to Soccer Laduma, Rulani Mokwena‘s Wydad Casablanca are favourites to sign the young striker on loan. Mailula played under Mokwena during his time at Downs and in fact, it was the young coach who felt the star was not ready yet to leave Chloorkop.
Mailula to reunite with his former Sundowns coach
“Expect the deal to be finalised this week and Cassius Mailula is likely to appear in the colours of Wydad Casablanca this season. The parties have agreed on almost everything and it’s just a matter of putting pen on paper for the matter to conclude.
“The arrangement has been made that he will sign today(Monday). He is excited about it, the coach is happy as well as the player’s camp,” a source told Soccer Laduma.
Mailula is not the only South African player to be linked with a reunion with the former Sundowns coach. Ex-Bafana Bafana midfielder Bongani Zungu is also in the books of Wydad Casablanca.
