UPDATE: The U.S. aviation sector is coming back to life as of 0900 hours eastern time. More than 5000 flights delayed/canceled due to this NOTAMS failure (21,464 flights were scheduled to depart US airports today). FlightAware’s Misery Map is miserable and can be expected to remain so throughout the day.
Due to the NOTAMS (Notice to Air Mission Systems) failure, the FAA issued a nationwide ground stop for all flights within the United States with the exception of medevac and military flights. The ground stop which took effect at 0730 Eastern time and is estimated to last two hours, until 0930 Eastern time.

The White House advises that the President has been briefed and there is no evidence of a cyber attack against the U.S. NOTAMS (at this time).

The FAA has provided three updates and more are expected as they bring the NOTAMS back online.
