The LA Lakers pick-up of Alex Len has worked out disastrously so far.
After reaching as high as second in the Western Conference, the Los Angeles Lakers are now slipping back down the rankings.
Upon acquiring Luka Doncic in basketball’s most stunning deal and a move for Dorian Finney-Smith, the Lakers were flying high. With their 126-106 brutal road defeat against the Milwaukee Bucks on March 13, the Lakers’ losing skid now extends to three.
This drops them to fourth seed of the West. And that might get even worse with LeBron James still inactive from his groin injury.
Reggie Miller blasts Alex Len for passive play in Lakers’ major loss against Bucks
As the Lakers absorbed a brutal setback in the hands of the Bucks, all of the attention was focused towards Alex Len.
Len, the Lakers’ mid-season signing as a backup one following on from the botched Mark Williams trade, had a horrible and forgettable night as the team’s starter against Milwaukee.
Filling in place of regular starting center Jaxson Hayes, who was sidelined on the game due to a knee injury, Len was an absolute non-factor for the Lakers.
In 19 minutes, he tallied two points and three rebounds and was a spectator to the domination of the Bucks’ twin towers in Giannis Antetokounmpo and Brook Lopez who dropped 24 and 23 points, respectively.
Len’s passive on-court presence prompted Reggie Miller to hit out, urging a different strategy during TNT’s national television coverage of the matchup.
“(Alex) Len, he’s not guarding anyone,” the Indiana Pacers legend and TNT analyst said. “He’s not scoring, he’s not rebounding.
“Go small if you’re the Lakers.”
Fans react as Alex Len’s disappointing play continues for LA Lakers
With James, Hayes, as well as Rui Hachimura out, the Lakers are pretty much thin on their frontcourt slate in going up against the Bucks. Redick had to shuffle his deck in which he even inserted Christian Koloko and Markieff Morris into the rotation.
Averaging 1.4 points and 1.9 boards in six games thus far, there has been a significant disappointment across the Lakers fanbase about the Len signing. And right after the game, several didn’t hold back showing their candid thoughts about the former No. 5 overall pick in social media
“Dude is so [expletive] it’s unbelievable,” a fan argued. “WTF was Pelinka thinking when he signed him?”
A neutral fan noting: “This man is a bonafide scrub! He can’t play.”
“I haven’t seen an NBA personality criticize a role player this badly since Stephen A. Smith on Kwame Brown,” another one stated.
“Should have picked up Dwight,” a Lakers fan wished, in relation to Dwight Howard. “I have a hard time believing he would be this bad. Len just exists out there on the court.”
Out of Len’s awful displays, each Lakers fan can only hope that Hayes and the others will return as soon as possible.
