Berlin (dpa) – The Federal Government is looking to provide additional support for the German economy. Federal Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Economics Minister Robert Habeck and Finance Minister Christian Lindner presented a 10-point plan for this purpose. Previously, the Federal Government spent two days at Schloss Meseberg near Berlin for the current legislative period’s mid-term retreat. An overview of the most important decisions:
“Growth Opportunity Act”: 50 tax policy measures are to provide relief worth 32 billion euros for the German economy in the coming years. One key element is a bonus for investments in climate action. The tax system is also to be simplified by means of higher thresholds and flat rates.
Streamlined bureaucracy: businesses and citizens are to be freed from bureaucracy. The Cabinet decided on the key points for legislation to this effect.
Digitalisation in the health sector: the Federal Government is looking to introduce electronic prescriptions and digital health records nationwide.
The Federal Government’s data strategy: in the next two years, the Federal Government will seek to establish the technical and legal basis for the use of AI applications in administration.
