HARRISBURG, Ill. — Ferrell Hospital experienced additional flooding Sunday after severe storms, the hospital announced Monday. Patients will be notified of any developments that may affect their upcoming appointments.
The Sunday flooding comes after the hospital experienced severe flooding in May, which necessitated the closure of all departments including the emergency department, and required the diversion of all patients to other facilities.
According to a Monday news release from the hospital, “Despite our best preparatory efforts, we experienced some water intrusion in limited areas of our building, primarily affecting our Emergency Department and clinic entrance areas.”
The news release said staff responded quickly to the flooding, immediately began cleanup procedures, consulted professionals to assess damage, and is “taking all necessary steps to ensure the safety and integrity of our facility.”
The hospital reiterated that it is committed to patient care and that patient safety is its top priority.
