- 15 churchgoers, including children, were injured after the van they were travelling in lost control in Ballito.
- In a separate accident, four people were killed in a multi-vehicle collision on the N2 near Umzumbe, also in KZN.
- Motorists in the province have been advised to drive with caution following warnings of damaging winds.
A van transporting churchgoers lost control and rolled multiple times on the N2 highway near Ballito, KwaZulu-Natal, on Sunday morning, leaving 15 people injured.
According to IPSS Medical Rescue, three children were among the injured.
“Two critically injured patients were stabilised on scene and transported to a nearby hospital under the care of an IPSS Medical Rescue Advanced Life Support paramedic,” IPSS Security Services spokesperson Samantha Meyrick said.

Meanwhile, on Saturday, four people were killed after a small truck and two cars collided on the N2 highway near Umzumbe, on the KwaZulu-Natal south coast.
Pietermaritzburg-based emergency medical services provider, Mi7 National, said that they were met with carnage upon arrival, with vehicle parts strewn across the highway.
“Four occupants were unfortunately found dead. One more required advanced life support interventions, administered by Mi7 medics, while two others had minor injuries.”

The SA Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a Level 2 warning for damaging winds, which may result in structural damage and cause issues for high-sided vehicles on major roads in parts of KwaZulu-Natal.
ALS paramedics warned motorists to be aware of debris on the roadway and branches falling off trees.
“These winds could also cause large wave swells and bathers need to please exercise extreme caution,” said ALS managing director Garrith Jamieson.
