Buffalo City Metro ratepayers have vowed to render the municipality “ungovernable” if it does not halt increases in electricity tariffs and other rates which came into effect on 1 July.
The metro increased its electricity tariffs by 12.07%, including a monthly maintenance network surcharge of R376 for prepaid customers and R660 for post-paid customers (excluding VAT for both).
Furious ratepayers and political leaders have slammed the City for the increases.
