We can count the comedy productions this Ramadan on the fingers of one hand. Having enjoyed ‘El Soffara’ and ‘Kamel El 3adad’ while still enjoying ‘El Kebir Awi 7’, it’s time to check out ‘Gat Saleema’, Donia Samir Ghanem’s comeback. After watching the trailer, we’d be lying if we said we weren’t at least intrigued. From the very first moment of the first episode, we knew the series looked like a piece out of a Disney movie, but we weren’t complaining. Here’s why ‘Gat Saleema’ is an Egyptian version of a Disney princess story.
The Costumes:
The costume and set design is something that nurtures our inner children. The ball gowns, the hairstyles, the crowns, the props, and the accessories all give off major fairytale vibes.
The Musical Scenes:
A Disney movie is never one without iconic songs in it. ‘Gat Saleema’, too, is slipping some musical scenes with catchy songs and cool choreography in the episodes -but it looks like a fun aspect of the production! Not very many musicals have produced in the Egyptian entertainment industry.
The Story:
Right from the start, the Egyptianized take on Cinderella’s story was enough of an indication that ‘Gat Saleema’ would be a piece of the fairytale-ish world.
The Cast:
Donia Samir Ghanem’s known to have a few pillars of actors and actresses in her cast, like Mohamed Sallam. The pair have proved more than once that they work like magic together. But this year, ‘Gat Saleema’ also features many stars who have either voiced Disney characters before or make the perfect fit for fairytale-like characters.
