A 13-year-old boy has died after allegedly being locked inside a Shoprite supermarket cold room overnight in Ratanda, Heidelberg in the south of Gauteng.
Heidelberg councillor Mari Boshoff said the angered local community was threatening to burn down the store.
The store manager allegedly locked the boy inside the cold room after he was caught stealing a chocolate bar.
Police on the scene confirmed that a child had died.
