People use Google to search up just about everything, so we can always use a more streamlined experience. Fortunately, this is what the company just gave us, according to a new blog post. Google will soon show site names next to its search results.
This feature is coming to the mobile version of Google search. It’s currently rolling out, so you may not see it immediately. Depending on your region, you may want to wait a few days for it to hit your device.
Google search site names make it easier to find the sites you want
When you search for something on Google, you will get results from different websites. You’ll see the link associated with those results and the site’s logo. However, that information is usually microscopic.
This is where the site names help navigate your Google search results. When you search up an item, you will see the site name pop up right above the link for the website. It will have a large font size, and it will be rather bold compared to the other text. This gives you more at-a-glance information than the link. You will also see the site logo displayed prominently next to the site name.
This isn’t a major update, but it helps you see what website you are going to a lot easier. Most searches give you a ton of websites to wade through, and that can be a bit overwhelming.
This feature also helps with another issue. When you’re looking through search results, there are times when you see different search results from the same website. It can be frustrating seeing a search result from one website that you don’t want to go to. It’s even more frustrating going to a different page on the exact same website.
With the site names, you’ll easily tell if you see more than one search result for the same website by looking at the site name and logo. This feature is rolling out for the Google search mobile app, but the company is working on bringing this functionality to the desktop version as well.
