Senior Special Assistant Humanitarian Affairs to the Cross River State Governor, Ben Ayade, Martha Egba has been recognized by the African Leading Women Conference and Award for her contributions to politics.
Ms. Agba who is also the Deputy Director of the State Electoral College, received the award at the 10th edition of the African Women Conferences and Award, held in Abuja.
She was among the Top 20 Women in Politics category for the Award.
In her acceptance speech, Ms. Agba thanked the organisers of the award for singling her out of several other women in politics.
She said; It is a great honour to be singled out by the African Women Conferences and Award as one of the leading young women in politics.
“This award is simply a call to do more and be more useful to our nation Nigeria.”
She noted that if women neglect their roles in politics and leave the political space to men alone, the desired result of nation-building would not be achieved.
She urged women to participate more in politics as it is through more participation that issues concerning girls, and women can be addressed.
The event was attended by the Wife of the Vice President, Mrs . Dolapo Osinbajo, His Excellency Yahaya Bello, H.E Hajiya Ramatu Aliyu, Her Excellency Deaconess Nkechi Ikpeazu, H.E Dame Judith Amaechi H.E Mrs . Diri, H.E Hajiya Amina Bello, HRH King Prof. Onyeche Promise Obinna (JP), among many others.
