Georgia face Czech Republic in a crucial Group F encounter at UEFA Euro 2024.
Sat fourth and third respectively after opening defeats, victory is imperative for both Georgia and Czech Republic if either team want to fight for an automatic knockout spot.
Team News
Georgia have no fresh injury concerns to report following their 3-1 loss to Turkey.
Czech Republic also have no fresh injury concerns to report after they fell to a 2-1 defeat against Portugal.
When is Kick-Off?
Georgia face Czech Republic at Volksparkstadion, Hamburg, on Saturday 22 June at 3pm CEST (2pm UK Time), live on BBC1 in the UK.
Stat Attack
- This is Georgia’s first-ever meeting against Czech Republic in all competitions.
- Czech Republic are facing their 53rd different European opponent in all competitions.
- Georges Mikautadze has scored in each of Georgia’s last two matches (W1, L1).
- Each of Czech Republic’s last eight goals in all competitions came in the second half.
Prediction
Despite having been defensively outclassed by a more dominant Turkish attack, Georgia certainly had chances of their own which they unfortunately wasted – especially in the second half, so I would like to see them show more of their quality but tighten up at the back.
Czech Republic meanwhile were unlucky to not at least snatch a draw against Portugal in what was a very scrappy game, but they can take heart from how confident they looked on the counter-attack and attack more here.
In fact I fancy the Czechs to win this game if can pressure Georgia’s defence especially if the back line is as high up as it was for Turkey’s third goal, but this should definitely be another tough game.
Prediction: Georgia 1-2 Czech Republic
