SEARCY – Four different Harding players scored 12 points or more, and the Lady Bisons came off a long layoff with a 67-55 victory over East Central Thursday in Great American Conference action at the Rhodes-Reaves Field House.
Playing for the first time since Dec. 18, Harding improved to 7-3 overall and 3-2 in conference. East Central, playing without starter Alexis Lyons, fell to 5-4 overall and 2-3 in the GAC. Harding is now 12-1 at home against East Central and has won the last 10 meetings at the Rhodes-Reaves Field House.
Jacie Evans had one of the best games of her career with 12 points and a career-high 19 rebounds. Her rebound total tied for sixth most ever by a Lady Bison and was the most since Kellie Lampo had 19 against Arkansas Tech in 2019.
Sage Hawley led Harding with 13 points. Hannah Collins had 12 points and six rebounds, and Lexi Davis made three 3-pointers and also had 12 points.
Harding limited East Central to only 27.1% shooting, the second time this season a Lady Bison opponent shot below 30%. The Tigers shot 31% or lower in each of the four quarters and lost starter Kate Ogle to an injury late in the first quarter.
Harding shot 69% in the second quarter and led 34-26 at halftime. An 8-0 run early in the second period gave the Lady Bisons a 23-18 lead. Harding never trailed from that point on.
The Lady Bisons shot 42% and made seven 3-pointers.
Harding is back at home Saturday against Southeastern Oklahoma. The Savage Storm defeated Arkansas Tech Thursday 75-69 in Russellville.
