Democrats gather in Chicago on Monday to welcome Kamala Harris as party’s presidential candidate
Democrats will gather in Chicago on Monday to kick off the Democratic National Convention and welcome U.S. Vice-President Kamala Harris as the party’s presidential candidate to square off against Donald Trump in the Nov. 5., election.
The economy, cost of living and foreign policy loom large on the agenda, along with reproductive rights and climate change.
Upwards of 70,000 people — delegates, media and others — are expected to descend on the Windy City’s United Center for the convention, including plenty of Hollywood star power.
Key speeches are expected from Harris, her running mate Tim Walz, U.S. President Joe Biden, former U.S. presidents Barack Obama and Bill Clinton and former U.S. secretary of state Hillary Clinton.
