Legendary India National Cricket Team batter Sunil Gavaskar has said that the modern-day batting great Virat Kohli will be able to breach the 100 international centuries mark, provided he continues to play till he turns 40 years old.
The 34-year-old recently played a stupendous knock against Sri Lanka in the third ODI of the three-match series and registered his 46th ODI century and overall 74th ton in international cricket.

He batted with an excellent strike rate and smashed an outstanding 166* runs off 110 balls, including 13 fours and 8 sixes, at the Greenfield International Stadium in Thiruvananthapuram. He was involved in two 100+ runs partnerships – with Shubman Gill and Shreyas Iyer.
Virat Kohli now just needs 4 more ODI tons to go past batting great Sachin Ramesh Tendulkar’s tally of 49 centuries in 50-over cricket.

Meanwhile, Gavaskar showered praise on Kohli for maintaining outstanding fitness and said that he can easily get to the 100 international tons milestone if he plays for the next 5-6 years.
“In case he plays, 5 or 6 years, he will get to the 100. There is no doubt about it. His average is about 6 hundreds a year. So, if that happens, then surely, he can add another 26 hundreds in the next 5-6 years, if he plays till 40. Sachin Tendulkar also played till his 40s and he kept his fitness. Kohli is very aware of his fitness,” India Today quoted Gavaskar as saying.
Converting 1s into 2s, and 2s into 3s, he is an absolute champion at that – Sunil Gavaskar
Gavaskar further said that Kohli is a champion when it comes to running between the wickets and only MS Dhoni was better than Kohli in this aspect of the game.
“He is still the fastest runner between wickets in this Indian team. Only when MSD was there, you could say, MS Dhoni was as quick, if not quicker. Today, at this age, he beats the youngsters hands down. Converting 1s into 2s, and 2s into 3s, he is an absolute champion at that. And not just for his runs, but for his partners as well. So, with that kind of fitness, for him to play till 40 would not be a surprise at all,” he added.
