Depending on the option you choose, the site will offer you a series of steps through which you will be able to recover your access. In case you have multiple accounts, you will be able to select the exact account that needs support.
Instagram also announced that the option to ask your friends to confirm your identity if you lose access to your account has been officially launched. Now, if you can’t log in, you can select two of your Instagram friends to confirm your identity. When they verify that the account is yours, you will regain access.
The social media platform also revealed that it is testing new methods to prevent hacking before it occurs. For example, the platform is currently developing a way to notify you if an account that’s impersonating someone else requests to follow you. Also, in the coming months, Instagram will release a feature that will warn you if an account that impersonates a business sends you a Direct Message (DM).
Instagram is now also showing the verified badge — that blue checkmark that shows that an account can be trusted — on even more places across its platform. You can now see verified blue badges in Stories and DMs, and soon they will be available in Feed as well.
