A thunderstorm brought heavy rain and moderate flooding to Howell Township, New Jersey, on the evening of Friday, August 5. The National Weather Service issued a flash flood warning and a severe thunderstorm warning for the region on Friday, predicting heavy winds, possible hail, and accumulation of water on roads. John Napoli, a Howell resident, shared footage of intense rainfall that he said resembled a hurricane. According to his personal rainfall tracker, slightly over four inches of rain came down in his area and “significantly overflowed” a nearby stream. “Well this is one way to end a drought,” Napoli wrote on Twitter.
