JD Vance: Why people are sharing fake JD Vance high-school images

Donald Trump’s running mate JD Vance has remained social media’s favorite topic even after a month as the Ohio senator never upsets the Internet. The writer of bestselling Hillbilly Elegy which became a Netflix movie had a beaming social life, social media account where he put no lid and it’s some gem or the other that people dug out — the latest being his high school photo in a boys’ washroom where three women posed as if they were urinating.
The 2003 photo had a different messaging, one of the women explained to media. It was a fun yet powerful gesture as the student body that year was dominated by women. After the photo went viral, people started cropping JD out and pasting him on ‘weird’ situation.

In a now-viral fake photo, 18-year-old JD — who was James Hamel at that time — is seen beside a couch. The couch is almost the first thing JD went viral for — a rumor that JD Vance wrote in his book that he once had sex with a couch. In reality, JD wrote nothing like that in his book. Similar such situation with 18-year-old JD as the main character has been created for fun on X.
Then JD went viral for his eye makeup, weight loss though apparently he does not apply any make up and possesses naturally smoky eyes with thick lashes and did not take any medicine for his astounding weight loss. The eye makeup confirmation came from his wife Usha. JD’s drag queen photo from Yale in 2012 then took the Internet by storm.
How did JD reacted to this one-month long virality? In interviews, JD said that he was prepared for an onslaught like this as soon as his name gets announced as the GOP’s VP pick, but he knew that it would settle down sooner. JD’s campaign took a jibe at the media that they were after JD’s old photos while Kamala Harris has not yet addressed a press conference after becoming the Democratic presidential candidate.
