Jeremy Allen White doesn’t look fussed about not being an Oscar nominee for the Springsteen movie

On Oscar weekend, the most relaxed people in Los Angeles are everyone who doesn’t have to go to the Oscars. I know this personally, not having to go to The Big Thing—or even leave your house when you know traffic will be f-cked by The Big Thing—is the best feeling. The worst feeling is not having started your personal care prep when you’re going to The Big Thing and still have to shave your legs. Don’t miss that!

Here’s Jeremy Allen White, who, I assume, isn’t super fussed about not being an Oscar nominee for the Springsteen movie. He doesn’t look bothered. Granted, his resting face is sort of…blank…but while they all want an Oscar to some degree, some are chiller about it than others, and given his stack of Emmys, I’m just not sure I believe JAW is worrying about trophies overmuch.

Besides, he’ll be busy this summer with The Mandalorian and Grogu, in which he voices a relative of Jabba the Hutt. And then there is The Bear, which is filming its fifth, and potentially final, season now. I am very interested to see what JAW does after The Bear. He has generally been a creature of television, between Shameless and The Bear, but The Bear has given him the kind of fame and critical recognition that has propelled him into big movie roles.

Besides Star Wars, he’s got a movie with Austin Butler coming up, and he’s in Aaron Sorkin’s Facebook follow-up, The Social Reckoning. See what I mean about big movie roles? Is this the path he keeps treading, or will he find another TV gig? Even with the industry in so much flux, TV is still more dependable than movies. It’ll be interesting to see where JAW goes next.

It has been ten years since Brie Larson won an Oscar. I must admit, I forgot this was her Oscar dress. I will always say this—I know people hate on Gwyneth Paltrow’s pink Ralph Lauren gown, but at least it’s memorable! SO many later Oscar dresses are completely unmemorable. That’s the trick of a good Oscar dress, though, you want something that stands out but also stands the test of time. It’s a very fine needle to thread. (Go Fug Yourself)

One thing everyone can agree on is that the portrayal of Darly Hannah in Love Story is totally insane and no one like it. Even the Kennedys are defending Daryl from the show’s weird hit job! (Celebitchy)

We are now two sleeps away, as Lainey says, from the Oscars. In a final bit of GREAT news for the telecast, the Academy announced that Matt Berry, English actor, comedian, musician, and star of such series as The IT Crowd, The Mighty Boosh, Toast of London, and What We Do in the Shadows, will act as the on-air announcer for the 98^th Academy Awards. I literally do not care about anything except this now.
