Friday night, Jordan Poole was Stephen Curry-like in a win over the Portland Trail Blazers. The rising star scored a game-high 41 points, earning the Golden State Warriors their fourth straight victory. It was the second 40-point game of Poole’s career. His first was on Dec 18th, 2022, against the Toronto Raptors.
After defeating Damian Lillard’s Blazers 118-112, Poole spoke with the media about his big scoring night.
“I missed a couple of easy ones that I would like to have back, but I just was playing through the offense,” Poole told the media. “Shoutout to my teammates that were looking for me, getting me open, trusting me to make the right play, but also just being able to go out there and be aggressive all night.”
After trailing by as many as 11 points, the Warriors rallied to beat Portland, earning their fourth straight victory. It also marks the fourth comeback win after trailing by double figures this season and the second consecutive. Although Poole was heroic in this game, he refused to allow himself to take all the credit.
The Dubs win by committee
“We just keyed in on the offensive end, and we picked it up on the defensive end later in the game, and it was a team effort,” Poole explained. “It was a total team effort. Donte played huge, Klay played huge, Ty (Jerome) played huge, JK and everybody, and Moses (Moody) came in and gave us good minutes. In the league, it’s a long season, and everybody’s a good team. You got to find ways to grit it out at the end and continue to keep going.”
The defending champs aren’t where they planned to be in the standings, but they get to leave 2022 on a positive note. A win against a good team is never easy to get in the NBA.
