Kaizer Chiefs are set to go into full recruitment drive ahead of the new season, if rumours are to accurate.
So far, Chiefs have made just one signing ahead of the new season, that being Bongani Sam who’s in Turkey.
The left-back joins Chiefs after a historic agreement was struck with arch rivals Orlando Pirates. Sam had not played for the Buccaneers in two years, however, having been had two loan stints at Moroka Swallows. Amakhosi are believed to have also wrapped up the signing of goalkeeper Fiacre Ntwari from TS Galaxy. The lanky Rwandan is set to be the Itumeleng Khune replacement.
Chiefs searching a striker
Chiefs are also thought to be intensifying their efforts to sign two Bafana Bafana international wingers. These being Oswin Appollis and Elias Mokwana. It is also not secret that they want to sign a striker. They have been linked to Iqraam Rayners, Lebo Mothiba and Fiston Mayele. Now another surprise name has resurfaced. This in the form of Mamelodi Sundowns striker Thabang Sibanyoni.
According to KickOff.com Chiefs are looking at Sibanyoni as a possible option but face competition from two other DStv Premiership side.
“Richards Bay FC has joined Kaizer Chiefs and Magesi FC in the race to sign striker Thabang Sibanyoni, who was on the books of University of Pretoria last season but actually belongs to Mamelodi Sundowns.” Wrote the publication.
Sundowns star Sibanyoni an option?
A source went on to confirm the interest of Richards Bay, Magesi and Chiefs in Sibanyoni.
“Richards Bay FC are keen to sign Sibanyoni. The negotiations have started. Chiefs and Magesi have also registered their interests, but [there is] nothing concrete so far. The boy is still contracted to Mamelodi Sundowns,” said the source.
Sibanyoni, was in form for Tuks and also played for Bafana Bafana at the COSAFA Cup. Is he a name that excites you Chiefs fans? Feel free to leave your feelings and thoughts in the comments below.
