What is Kawazu-zakura?

There are around 8,000 trees that come into bloom in the Kawazu area, with some 850 lining the Kawazu River banks over a stretch of around 4 kilometers.

One of the highlights of the Kawazu-zakura Festival is the mesmerizing display of cherry blossoms along the Kawazu River. As the cherry trees bloom in early February, the riverbanks are transformed into a picturesque scene with vibrant pink flowers cascading down the slopes.

Strolling along the river, visitors can immerse themselves in the delicate fragrance and marvel at the breathtaking sight. Certain areas are lit up in the evening from 6 PM to 9 PM.
