Kendrick Perkins gave his pick for the most important player on the Cleveland Cavaliers.
The Cleveland Cavaliers are flying high right now. They extended their league-best record to 54-10 with a win over the Milwaukee Bucks on Sunday night.
Doc Rivers noticed the gulf in quality between the Cavaliers and the Bucks. And given the way the Cavaliers are playing, there is a major gap between them and the majority of the NBA.
The Cavaliers are absolutely flying and have beaten some of the best of the best. And while Paul Pierce doubts the Cavs’ championship mettle, there is no denying just how good they look.
Cleveland has a very strong roster. But who is their centerpiece, their key figure? Kendrick Perkins believes there is one star on the team who fits that bill, and it isn’t who you would think.

Kendrick Perkins picks Cavaliers centerpiece
Kendrick Perkins spoke about the Cleveland Cavaliers and their roster this season. He believes that Evan Mobley is the most important player.
Perkins pointed to Mobley’s versatility as a player, along with his effectiveness on both ends, that makes him so valuable to the Cavaliers.
“The most important player on this Cavs roster is Evan Mobley. Donovan Mitchell is the best player, he’s the star. I get that… This success is going to be on the back of Evan Mobley – how far this team goes.”
“Think about how versatile he is. One could make the argument that right behind Giannis Antetokounmpo might just be the second-best power forward in the game…”
“He’s up for winning Defensive Player of the Year… He is the X factor if they’re going to beat the Boston Celtics and make it to the NBA Finals.”
Mobley has been having a brilliant season this year, averaging 18.6 points, 9.4 rebounds, and 3.1 assists per game.

Cleveland Cavaliers can win it all
For the first time since 2018, the Cleveland Cavaliers look like genuine contenders. They have taken seven years to build an incredible team together.
This roster, under the coaching of Kenny Atkinson, has a genuine shot at winning the NBA championship. The arrival of De’Andre Hunter has helped them get even better.
The Cavaliers currently have a 54-10 record, the best in the entire NBA. And if they continue to play this way in the post-season, it is hard to bet against them in the East.
The only question surrounding them is their playoff experience, having not made it out of the second round with this current squad.
