The Energy and Petroleum Regulatory Authority (EPRA) has revised fuel prices after a drop in global crude oil prices.
In the latest review, effective Saturday, October 15, to Monday, November 14, the regulator reduced the price of a litre of super petrol by KSh 1, diesel reduced by KSh 2, and kerosene by KSh 1.
Kenyans will pay KSh 178.20 for a litre of petrol, KSh 163 for diesel, while kerosene will retail at KSh 146.94.

“The prices are inclusive of the 8% Value Added Tax (VAT) in line with the provisions of the Finance Act 2018, the Tax Laws Amendment Act 2020, and the revised rates for excise duty adjusted for inflation as per Legal Notice No 194 of 2020,” EPRA stated.

Cost of landing cost drops
The minimal drop in prices was announced despite the average landed cost of super petrol decreasing by 10.60% from $812.91 per cubic metre in August 2022 to $726.77 in September 2022.
On the other hand, diesel landing costs decreased by 6.87% from $949.68 per cubic metre to $884.46, while kerosene declined by 1.82% from $899.56 to $883.22.
Kenyan express frustrations online
Kenyans were unhappy with the latest review by EPRA, describing the new fuel prices as a ‘joke’.

Fuel prices drop by KSh 10 in Uganda
In Uganda, the Energy Ministry reduced the prices of fuel by KSh 10.
At Shell petrol stations, a litre of diesel now costs between USh 5,680 (KSh 180.15) and USh 5,990 (KSh 189.98). Petrol at the same station costs USh 6080 (KSh 192.84) per litre.
A litre of diesel at Total Energies, on the other hand, retails at between USh 5,780 (KSh 183.32 and USh 5,970 (KSh 189.35).
