Former policewoman Linda Okello has taken a walk down memory lane to eight years ago when a skirt saga turned her life in the police service into a living hell.
It all began in 2014 when she was caught on camera wearing an extremely short skirt that had hugged her figure too tightly.
Linda says that she had no idea the dressing would be controversial because it was not the first time she was wearing it.
The skirt that changed everything
In a long rant on Facebook, the curvaceous damsel recalled how a seemingly negligible issue became the reason she was demoted.

“I happen to be blessed with a nice body, so the cameraperson took advantage and took the photo from behind, and that is how I ended up being called for disciplinary action,” she explained.

That would begin a never-ending journey of struggle to remain afloat as war was waged against her from different corners of the police service.
She says that when the case was thrown out, those who wanted her to go down started finding new ways to mess up her career.
Transferred to different stations
Linda reveals that for a whole week she would leave her house and go to the traffic headquarters for the hearings and go back to the house very late.
It was also the reason they set up a scheme to frustrate her in all ways possible, but she held on because she had no plans to resign.
“I was transferred to different stations at very short intervals in a bid to punish me, with one of the allegations being that I was a threat to the Kiambu community,” she remembered.
After over two years of back and forth between her and a number of her bosses, Linda decided it was time to relocate to the US where she still is.

Charged with dressing scantily
Linda’s case started on May 19, 2014 when she was presented before the police disciplinary team for appearing scantily dressed, contrary to the National Police Service Act.
As the case progressed, she found herself in yet another charge of alleged bribery after which she was demoted from a traffic officer to a general duty cop in Molo.
Throughout the case, the corporal complained of being subjected to an unfair and unreasonable enquiry, with her lawyer arguing that her charges were “defective and only meant to humiliate her”.
