Three England Lionesses have been nominated for 2022 Women’s Ballon d’Or, whilst Lionel Messi misses out on men’s longlist.
2022 UEFA Women’s Euro Golden Boot winner, Beth Mead leads the female list of nominees after scoring 34 goals in total for Arsenal and England this season, as the Lionesses won their first UEFA Euro title.
Mead’s fellow Lionesses, Lucy Bronze and Millie Bright have also been nominated, whilst Arsenal’s Vivianne Miedema and Chelsea’s Sam Kerr are amongst fellow nominees.
Germany’s Alexandra Popp headlines the foreign selection of nominees alongside the following four Barcelona stars; Aitana Bonmati, Asisat Oshoala, Alexia Putellas and Fridolina Rolfo – with Putellas looking to defend her crown.

Messi Misses Out On Men’s Ballon d’Or Nominations
2021 winner, Lionel Messi has been snubbed for the men’s Ballon d’Or longlist following a tough first season at PSG, following his departure from Barcelona last summer.
Half of the 30-man shortlist is made up of Premier League stars with Kevin de Bruyne, Mohamed Salah and Harry Kane amongst leading stars of the English game to make the list.
2021-22 UEFA Champions League winners, Real Madrid meanwhile have five nominees including their new summer signing – Antonio Rudiger plus the following four players from last season; Karim Benzema, Casemiro, Thibaut Courtois, Luka Modric and Vinicius Junior.

England’s Bellingham and Saka Amongst Kopa Nominees
England’s Jude Bellingham and Bukayo Saka have been shortlisted for the Kopa Trophy which celebrates the best young players under the age of 21.
The pair however face tough competition from Real Madrid’s Eduardo Camavinga, Barcelona’s Gavi and Bayern Munich’s Jamal Musiala amongst other nominees.

Four Premier League Goalkeepers Nominated For Yashin Trophy
Alisson, Ederson, Edouard Mendy and Hugo Lloris who play for Liverpool, Manchester City, Chelsea and Tottenham respectively, have all been shortlisted for the Yashin Trophy which celebrates the best goalkeepers of the last year.
The quartet however all face tough competition from Real Madrid’s Courtois plus Eintracht Frankfurt’s Kevin Trapp, after the pair impressed in goal to secure their respective clubs the Champions and Europa League titles last season.
