Welcome to football audits’s live coverage of Arsenal vs Sevilla at the Emirates Stadium. The Gunners’ unbeaten run in pre-season came to an end with a 2-1 defeat to Brentford in midweek as a second-string and youth side fell to the team that won the league opener last season.
This will be the first opportunity for the home Emirates crowd to see new signings Gabriel Jesus, Oleksandr Zinchenko, Matt Turner and Marquinhos. Fabio Vieira has so far not played due to injury but there have been hints he could be involved in some form today.
The starting line-up is sure to contain plenty of hints as to how Mikel Arteta could set up his team for the opening game of the new Premier League season at Selhurst Park on Friday. A 3-0 defeat to Crystal Palace there last season will need to be altered to kick off what many see as an exciting campaign in the right way.
Kieran Tierney and Takehiro Tomiyasu have both returned to training in the week leading up to the match and their presence, or lack of it, will give a good idea as to how they’re shaping up for the first match. Ultimately though Arsenal supporters will be hoping to see the team now fully up to speed.
