London police are searching for two suspects who have been charged in a human trafficking investigation that involved a woman who was taken to London and forced to perform sexual acts for money.
Police say a woman from Whitby, Ont., met a man over social media and agreed to meet him at a shopping centre in Scarborough. After the meeting, police say the man offered to take her home, but when she realized they were going in another direction, the man showed her a gun and made threats if she didn’t do what he wanted.
The investigation revealed the man forced the woman to attend various locations around London where she was allegedly sexually assaulted a number of times between June 5 and 18.
Police say the victim was then taken to London were she was forced to perform additional sexual acts for money.
The woman was able to escape from the man on June 26 and contacted police.
Three men are facing multiple charges, including:
- Trafficking in persons by recruiting/exercising control.
- Financial/material benefit/trafficking person over 18.
- Forcible confinement.
- Extortion.
- Material benefit from sexual services.
- Procuring/recruit person to provide sexual services.
A 35-year-old London man has been arrested, while two others are being sought.
Police are looking for 37-year-old Jonathan Drummond of no fixed address and 32-year-old Matthew Parris-Cassidy of London.
Investigators suspect that there may be other victims and are encouraging them to contact police.
Anyone who suspects someone of being a victim of human trafficking, or who may have information as to the whereabouts of Parris-Cassidy and Drummond are being asked to call London police at 519-661-5670 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
