Rapper and Love and Hip Hop South Africa star Leslie Mampe (popularly known as Da L.E.S) suffered a stroke on Friday and has been hospitalised.
His family confirmed the news in an official statement issued on Sunday afternoon after the rapper missed his birthday celebration per a social media post.
“Due to unforeseen circumstances, Da L.E.S will unfortunately not be in attendance at his birthday celebration this evening. Thank you for understanding,” read the post.
“Whilst he is in a stable condition, this remains a challenging time for his loved ones, and his family call on the public to keep him in their thoughts and prayers as they navigate this difficult period,” said the Mampe family, promising to share updates on Da L.E.S’ condition as they become available.
Da L.E.S (real name Leslie Jonathan Mampe) is a South African rapper who shot to fame as part of the musical group Jozi alongside Bongani Fassie and Ishmael.
He later launched a successful solo career and began hosting exclusive pool parties before joining the cast of shows like The Real Jozi A-Listers and Love and Hip Hop South Africa.
Last November, he released an album called 313.
