A middle-aged man has been arrested for being the mastermind of an attack at Yatta Funeral Home in Machakos County.
A report by TV 47 indicated that the 30-year-old man is the son of the owner of the land where the morgue is situated.
Yatta sub-County Police Commander Bernard Rono confirmed the incident, saying the gang broke into the morgue and stabbed dead bodies before destroying hearses at the facility.
Speaking on Monday, November 28, Gideon Mule, the morgue’s owner, accused the landlord of disobeying a court order requiring him to pay KSh 7 million.

According to Mule, the landowner hired goons to throw him out of the premises without first compensating him.
“He wants me to vacate, yet the court was clear he should pay me KSh 7 million in order for me to move. Now he has seen the courts are against him, he has reported threats and attacks,” Mule said.
Mule revealed that the Sunday night attack left a hearse destroyed, with one of the bodies being preserved at the facility completely deformed.
“The hearse windows are broken. None of them can be used until they are repaired. One body was destroyed completely even the family is here worried,” he said.

Zachary Barasa of Siuma Auctioneers was arrested on Wednesday, November 9, after he was accused of forcibly and illegally evicting the family of Niraj Sha and his wife Avan Shah from their Westlands home valued at about KSh 80 million.
Niraj and Avan said they had been illegally chased from a place they called home for over four decades and had a lease of 25 more years remaining.
Barasa was reportedly contracted by Lariak Properties to kick out the family because the latter were the legal owners of the property under dispute.
He said that he only used the orders to effect the eviction. He accused police officers who arrested him and even requested extended detention for using him as a scapegoat in a matter that had attracted nationwide interest.
