Disney is renewing the early 2000s family comedy Malcolm in the Middle for a limited four-episode miniseries that will bring back many of the original cast members.
The premise of this new version of the show is to bring Malcolm (Frankie Muniz) back into the family home for his parents’ 40th wedding anniversary. The parents, of course, will be played by Bryan Cranston and Jane Kaczmarek from the original series, but beyond those three actors, it’s still unclear how many other returning cast members will show up.
The logline mentions that Malcom’s daughter will be part of the new show, but makes no mention of a spouse. The reboot is being helmed by the original creator, Linwood Boomer, and will air on Disney+.
The original show had 151 episodes and aired across seven seasons from 2000-2006. It received 33 Emmy nominations and won seven.
There have been lots of reboots in the works lately, with ABC working on a new version of Scrubs, and Hulu working on Prison Break.
