Mamelodi Sundowns have reportedly brought in former AmaZulu head coach Romain Folz as their new assistant coach.
The 34-year-old coach left South Africa to coach Guinea side Horoya SC. According to iDiski Times, Masandawana have added Folz to their technical department. The young coach will assist Manqoba Mngqithi and Steve Komphela ahead of the 2024/25 season.
Just a few weeks ago, Mamelodi Sundowns parted ways with their head coach Rulani Mokwena. The news shocked many football fans given Mokwena had just extended his stay at Chloorkop. Since his departure, The Brazilians brought back Steve Komphela to assist Mngqithi, who has since taken over as head coach.
Mamelodi Sundowns bring in Romain Folz as coach
Sundowns are currently in Austria for their pre-season training. The African giants have played two friendlies against Dynamo Kyiv and SV Sandhausen, and lost both. Masandawana are expected to play Cardiff City on Tuesday in their last match overseas before returning to South Africa.
Mamelodi Sundowns have been the most active in player releases, parting ways with four players and a coach. This includes experienced midfielder Bongani Zungu, along with defender Brian Onyango, and the attacking duo of Gaston Sirino and Lesedi Kutumela.
