Kaizer Chiefs have apparently played two friendly matches this pre-season under Nasreddine Nabi but fans are left in the cold.
The Tunisian coach took over the club earlier this month together with his technical team. Nabi’s arrival was delayed due to his commitments in Morocco. Amakhosi travelled to Turkey three weeks ago and have hit the ground running in Istanbul.
On Thursday, the club surprised fans when they announced that they were preparing for their third friendly match. In the past weeks, Kaizer Chiefs have posted pictures of Nabi and his players on the training grounds but none of the team in action.
“With the team continuing with their pre-season camp and preparations in Turkiye. Amakhosi will play their third practice/friendly match against Qatar’s Al Shahaniya SC in Istanbul on Saturday, 20 July,” Chiefs said.
Kaizer Chiefs putting no pressure on Nabi
“Al Shahaniya gained promotion to the Qatar Stars League (QSL) after they were crowned champions at the end of the previous season.”
Amakhosi’s rivals Orlando Pirates and Mamelodi Sundowns have been keeping their fans informed about their pre-season results. Both teams have played several friendly matches in Europe, some of which were televised. While Kaizer Chiefs have previously shared live scores on their social media, their current silence might be related to the club’s form in the past season.
Nasreddine Nabi has already coached two games at Kaizer Chiefs but it appears as if the outcome of the results are strictly confidential. The team will play at home later this month against Young Africans.
Are Chiefs digging themselves into a hole by hiding results?
