Millwall’s Boxing Day home game against Swansea City has been postponed. It is the second fixture to not take place due to the South London club being hit hard by positive Covid-19 cases.
Millwall posted a statement on their official website: “This is due to an additional number of positive Covid-19 cases within the playing squad and support staff.
“The club has worked hard to ensure that it has been able to fulfil the fixture, however, taking into account the injuries and positive Covid-19 cases within the squad, the club does not have a sufficient number of players available in order to fulfil the fixture.
“Only a minority of those who have returned positive test results are experiencing any sort of symptoms and they are very mild at worst.
“The decision to postpone the match has once again been made following extensive dialogue with all necessary stakeholders.
“A new date for the match will be announced when confirmed. Tickets already purchased for Sunday’s game will be valid for the rearranged date, but should you require a refund then please email [email protected] with proof of purchase and staff will assist accordingly. If you are booked in for matchday hospitality and need to discuss amending your booking or requesting a refund, please email [email protected]
“Supporters who have purchased iFollow video match passes, meanwhile, will be contacted individually in due course by the EFL.”
The Lions have not played since the 2-1 loss at Peterborough United on December 11.
They are next due to be in action at Coventry City on December 29.
