Jrue Holiday has not looked back since he was traded from the Milwaukee Bucks to the Boston Celtics in 2023.
One year ago Jrue Holiday was traded as part of a three-team deal which sent Damian Lillard to the Milwaukee Bucks.
Holiday was the winner from the trade, ending the 2023-24 season as a NBA champion with the Boston Celtics, in addition to his first title win on the Milwaukee Bucks in 2020-21.
Holiday returned to Milwaukee on November 10 as the Celtics took on Milwaukee.
Milwaukee Bucks 107-113 Boston Celtics
The Bucks led the game at the half, but were gradually hauled in for the Celtics, who began to pull away with three minutes to go.
It means the Celtics move to 9-2 for the season, with the Bucks falling to 2-8. Not even a 43 point game from Giannis Antetokounmpo was enough, his 50th career game to hit that number.
Yet despite the horrific start, this was a performance for Doc Rivers‘ team to take heart from, they just came up short against a more together team, who know how to close out games. Jayson Tatum ended up with 31 points after scoring just eight in the first half.
The Bucks have now lost two straight after their victory over Utah Jazz. This was their second loss to Eastern Conference rivals Celtics this season.
Jrue Holiday questioned on Bucks broadcast
During the loss, Milwaukee Bucks legend Marques Johnson pointed out a worrying statistic about Jrue Holiday on the Boston Celtics.
He pointed out that last season the Celtics had a better ‘plus minus’ record when Holiday was not on the court, and this has got three times as bad this season.
Johnson, speaking on the Bucks broadcast, said: “I’m looking at Jrue Holliday’s on court numbers, last season -5.6 that’s low, this year that’s even lower -14.9% when he’s on the court.”
He added that he was not sure what to make of the numbers, but expressed that he was very shocked.
Johnson explained: “Am I going to believe the analytics or my lying eyes?
“I know how valuable he is, when I looked at his on court numbers I was shocked, I was at a loss how bad they are.”
The numbers cited by Johnson are backed up via Cleaning The Glass, correct leading into the Bucks – Celtics game.
Holiday scored 15 points during the Celtics win, including a pair of free-throws late in the fourth.
