A missing Houston teenager led police on a chase after being spotted some 750 miles away in Nebraska on Friday — and following a crash, police say they found a dead woman’s body inside the car’s trunk.
Tyler Roenz, 17, was reported missing alongside his 49-year-old mother, Michelle, on Thursday.
Before disappearing, they were last seen in the north Houston suburb of Humble.
Michelle’s car was spotted Friday in Nebraska, and the driver led police on a chase that ended with a crash in Aurora, according to Houston authorities.
Tyler Roenz was behind the wheel, according to Harris County Sheriff Ed Gonzalez.
When cops searched the vehicle, they found the body in the trunk, Gonzalez said. The body was not immediately identified Friday night.
Tyler Roenz was hospitalized in serious condition, police said.
