The Integrated Homicide Investigation Team took over the case as the man’s death was deemed suspicious.
On Friday, IHIT identified the victim as Shawn Clarke, 49. The Surrey resident has been reported missing to police on May 1, about two weeks after he was last seen in Surrey on April 18.
Clarke’s death does not appear connected to the ongoing B.C. gang conflict, said investigators.
