Nakuru East MP David Giakria has been ejected from Kiamunyi Mixed Secondary School polling station in Rongai Constituency, Nakuru County.
Elections in Rongai and seven other areas are underway after the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) postponed the exercise twice.
According to Gikaria, he was at the institution to act as the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party agent during the polls.
However, this did not sit right with the voters and residents of Kiamunyi who wanted the lawmaker out of the polling station.
While chasing him out, they said they did not want any politician elected outside Rongai Constituency to be part of the exercise.
“We want to make our decision independently. A politician coming here will result in the intimidation of voters and the IEBC staff as well,” a voter shouted.
The protest saw minimal chaos and commotion as the police escorted the legislator out of the school premises.
Intervention by police officers helped restore calm in the area and voting continued peacefully.
Gikaria was helped out of the area by a supporter who had a motorcycle and by 9: 10 am, Gikaria was not within the constituency.
